'Réunion des Opéras de France' currently brings together 25 opera houses, stages or opera festivals.
Chaired by Laurent Hénart, French MP and Deputy Mayor of Nancy, it forms a national network in permanent dialogue and cooperation with the French Ministry for Culture and Communication.
'Réunion des Opéras de France' is committed to the defence and promotion of operatic and choreographic art in all their forms. It carries out its missions focusing on information, coordination and valorisation.
In order to pursue these goals, it develops a resource centre on lyric art:
- Dissemination of information for opera houses and the general public via the association's website (www.rof.fr)
- Collection of financial data, theatre’s activity related information, job- and audience-related enquiries in the field of opera
- Project of a database on operatic productions in French theatres in partnership with the French Ministry for Culture and Communication and other institutions (Bibliothèque-Musée de l'Opéra, National Centre for Scientific Research).
It is also an encounter and exchange platform for opera professionals as well as their mouthpiece vis-à-vis public authorities:
- Joint actions (professional meetings, workshops, life-long learning actions…)
- Common tools (data collection on artistic programmes and others)
- Common services (legal, social, tax-related consultancy)
- Joint decisions (on rentals, per diems…)
It contributes to the promotion of opera by all possible means in order to foster better understanding and access to the largest possible audience:
- Support of editorial projects, especially for young audiences
- Support of highly specialised publications
- Specific actions like 'Tous à l’Opéra!', www.tous-a-lopera.fr
